What if it says my email address is already in use ?

That probably means that you've registered already and are clicking the 'Register' button again instead of the 'Login' button.

What if the forum says my number/username is already in use ?

This probably just means that you have already registered but have mistakenly clicked 'register' again instead of 'login'.
(Remember that you have to validate your email address by clicking the link in the post-registration email before you will be allowed to log in !)

Don't worry ! The heading at the top of the registration screen is part of the furniture !
The actual checks are done when you click the 'Submit' button and any errors will then appear in red at the top of the page.
